JB's Fishing report (Kiwha stream,Koh's fantastic matching!!! ,3-4,May,2001)

So Big!!!

Again Kiwhastream on this week with Koh. While he was putting his wader on,I tried first CashBox. On partridge and pink(#14),many rainbows dashed.

10 rises on the hook, but I caught just 3.Pitiful JB!!

Last week I blamed Bob for dropping the fish.

But this time I did drop many fish.Ha Ha Ha...

First caught rainbow on Partridge&Pink

Now ,Koh's turn. He tried a Caddis Larva that he devised with his own hands. Many bites happened on the tail of slow flow.

He met so many big ones after a long time that was very happy.

Big rainbows were caught at 2-5 minutes intervals. So surprising!!! His own designed hook was perfectly

matched (#12 Haretron ginger body ribbed with red wine color, dark brown Thorax.) He caughtl 7 big rainbows totally up to evening rise.(Water temp 13-14 Celsius)

Sequence of fighting with a Trophy!!

Looks firm!!!

Nextday we came by the CashBox again. In the mornig,I had stomach pain.I just looked on at Koh's fishing. He caught 4 rainbows just in several presentations. From the Noon,my turn. But there were not many strolling about near the CashBox. So I tried gaudy attracter to pull out some rainbows. Father and son lure fishing near the CashBox made a fishing pressure,I guessed. 10 minutes after, fairly many fish flocked together around the CashBox.Right after matching the hooks in the mid depth, came the bites .

After the sunlight spreaded entirely, the feeding was chaned from the mid-depth to bottom....and again on the mid-depth at 30 minutes intervals.

40cm Rainbow

After Koh went back his home,I tried some test to get my idea into shape.Though I got some data about Rainbows biting for some nymph patterns,I wanted to discover some dry-patterns matched deadly in this strong sunlight. I tried long leader system with thin tippets(18ft,6X-7X tippets)to fish midges(18#-#22) But no reactions!! Exceptionally, the fancy hook like Wulf type with yellow calf taill wing tempted some rainbows. This was just a curiosity, not matched.

And in case of Ant pattern was a little bit effective.I caught 3 with this hook. But strictly speaking, the Ant patterns in general was not dry pattern itselves when designed first.

Bites happened when the Ant hooks got wet and peneratedthe water surface film. JB parachutes had no satisfactory results.Only JB parachute with body wrapped by peacock hearl just attracted rainbow's eyes. In case of spent patterns, spread hackle fiber wing was better than things with Shimazaki wing paper.

A mayfly sitting on Koh's cap.

After finishing flyfishing,I joined PK,JoMa and Gosoo(He married the woman who joined the meeting SnF& FFFJapan as interpreter) for Korean traditional fishing. After spending the night with them,I was back home at Children's day morning. So bad Daddy JB!!!!

My kids in the suburbs of Seoul

My fishing friend Bob invited my family to the brunch at 'Dragon hills Lodges' located in YoungSan Garrison. My kids had a nice day with Bob the day after Children's day. Thank you Bob!!
