Last 17 of May,I with Koh and PK took part in
the Academic investigation hosted by KangWon Daily Paper. The
spot OhsoDong we examined is a tributary of NamKang(Nam river) that
flows into North Korean part. We longed
to find out Korean Char(Gondulmegi) that reported as exterminated
in 1974 in Korea.
Unhappily we didn't meet any salmon family
there. But having a chance to fish around DMZ was
very siginificant to us. I would like to thank the battalion commander
who is keeping the fence, the officer who
guided us ,the reporters of Kangwon Daily Paper and some scientists
who took part in this investigation.
The origin of the place name 'OhsoDong' is derived
from that there were many crows in this area long
time ago.
Ohosodong is located in the foot of the mountain
'Geonbong' and was a route to Mountain
'Kumkang'. Although the two armies of Soutn and North confront each
other betweenthe fence ,long ago my ancestors
would have passed this route to enjoy the grand sight of Mt.Kumkang.
Kim
Nam Deok.
You can see the fence that divide South and
North Korea in this picture. The water
quality is so clean and neutral but the water temp. was not low
regarding that this streamis located at
a height of about 930m.

He informed me that the thcikness of Alkari
influences growth and taste of fish.

We Snf team finished the survey near DMZ 17
of May unhappily, because we had not much time. But,the
rest of Academic investigation team continued the schedule in Gojindong(18
of May) and Myoungpacheon(19 of May).
Camera reporter Kim Nam Deok sent me the picture of Cherrytrouts
caught in GojinDong.
